Cape Cross Campsite

Cape Cross Campsite is a government-managed facility situated within the Cape Cross Seal Reserve on Namibia’s Skeleton Coast. This destination is world-renowned for hosting one of the largest breeding colonies of Cape fur seals with thousands of animals visible from a dedicated interpretative walkway. Beyond the wildlife the site holds significant historical importance as the location where Portuguese explorer Diogo Cão erected a stone cross in 1486. The camping area offers basic but functional facilities including campsites with fireplaces and wind shields to protect against the Atlantic breeze. Guests can explore the nearby salt pans view shipwrecks and admire the prolific coastal birdlife.
